Armored Servers' intent is to provide a service first.. then profit later. Most of our competitors are purely for-profit with the service as a means to an end and it will show in their support and services. Armored Servers is a small business and gears more towards a niche market involving SUN Solaris dedicated servers with an emphasis on Security. SUN designed JAVA.. why not run it on SUN's Solaris Operating System. Choose a 10 or more CPU SUN server.. Run 10 individual (memory and CPU hungry) JAVA processes at once without having the machine break a sweat. That same 10 CPU server would have 8mb Cache RAM on 'each' CPU (unlike the low-cost x86 Dual or Quad Core CPU's that share this Cache RAM), and 10GB or more of RAM. 64bit too... and the cost is dramatically cheaper than paying the monthly cost of a dedicated T1 line to your place of business. Why does our competition not offer SUN Solaris operating systems but instead provide lower cost Linux servers? (keep in mind that JAVA runs horrible on Linux compared to Solaris!) SUN Hardware is more expensive than the typical Intel/AMD based hardware. They are more expensive for valid reasons, and that is for dependability, fast I/O, virtually zero downtime, and robust hardware. And to top it off, a SUN Solaris administrator who knows what he or she is doing is worth quite a bit. SUN hardware and software for dedicated servers is not very cost-effective for our competitors.. once again, they are strictly for-profit.
